Busted Lights - March 11, 2012 by

Back then, electricity is not that important because we’re used to do things the simple way. We even used lanterns and candles at night because we did not have lights. But now, no one can live with own electricity and lots of people have been wasting it because they know they can afford to pay the electric bills. Take the ceiling lights for example. We let it stayed on all day long. Meanwhile, in our house there is part of the house that don’t have light. My husband and I have thought of installing a flush mount ceiling lights but that probably cost us big money for the installation and for the electrician. Couple of our ceiling lights are busted. There’s one out of three lights in each ceiling light that is working and that’s good enough to give lights upstairs and in the hallway. All these ceiling lights are just so fancy to look at and I wish we can replace ours with new ones.

Organizational Accountability Warning Flag 1 – Equality of Outcomes - March 6, 2012 by

Equal OutcomesNo two individuals are exactly alike; therefore, each uniquely contributes to the organization. Subsequently, it is reasonable to expect that each individual’s efforts will result in a unique value contribution to the organization. In the accountable organization, this value is proportionately rewarded. Thus, no two individuals should expect to consistently receive the same reward outcomes.

Memory Lane Monday {Special Friend} Now A Mommy - March 3, 2012 by

I’ve missed couple of Monday playing the Memory Lane Monday. If it’s Monday, It’s always gonna be manic to me so i forgot to post most of the Monday meme.
Anyway, i would like to congratulate one of my very special friend/close friend Leah G.Twho just gave birth to a bouncy and adorable baby girl few days ago. I wish i was there with her and have the chance to cuddle, hugs and kiss her baby. Congrats bayot, you are now a certified Mommy/mama/nanay not a bayot no more.

Leah Gador-Tacolot | New Mom to a Baby Girl

Leah and I together with our other friends (teachers) known each other when we were applying for a teaching position in the Division of Cebu City. We got hired on the same year 2000 but were assigned in different mountain school. Leah’s best friend from college (sugar) and I were assigned in the same school in the mountain. The name tsang and bayot were instantly our pet name. Sometime we called each other using our last name or our father’s name but most of the time it’s ‘yots or uts and tsang”.

Bohol 2005

We have so many things in common and we all just want fun and make fun with boy when we were still a little bit younger. When we reached the age 27 we thought our life was getting boring. We can’t handle drinking that much, we got busy with school but we still hang out with each other after class because we both assigned in the same school district; Labangon Cebu City when we got transferred to the City school.

Bantayan, Cebu 2001

We got teased by her aunt before that no man would want to court us because of our bully attitude. When I left the country, that was the time she found a serious boyfriend because she did not have partner to make fun of guy. We’re glad there’s Facebook, we communicate each other with the rest of the gang as well and see or share pictures. We have couple of close friends that are still single and very much available. I hope one day God will deliver their lifetime partner and I wish and pray that whoever that is, he is a good, responsible, kind hearted person. I am so happy for my friend. She is now a mommy. Enjoy the motherhood tsang.

StrategyDriven Editorial Perspective – America: Are Entrepreneurs the Bad Guys? - February 24, 2012 by

Watching media coverage of ‘business’ in the United States, one might imagine he is living in a socialist country where capitalism is almost a crime. From certain sectors of the media and within the circles of certain political campaigns we hear cries of anger at the ‘wealthy’ and the need for business owners to pay a bigger slice of the tax pie. According to government classifications I am ‘rich’ – As a New York City resident, I pay more than 50% in taxes, and as a 37 year old entrepreneur I ask myself when is enough, enough?

A product of a single parent household and the New York City public school system, I have worked very hard for what I have, and today own one of the 25 largest U.S. Public Relations Agencies, 5WPR. My firm employs a little less than 100 people; we have no debt, we pay vendors on time, and have always operated a profitable business. We never had an open line of credit, nor do we carry credit card balances beyond the billing period. We pay our bills.

Entrepreneurs absorb the cost of jury duty for employees, we match Medicare tax rates (with little faith the system will exist when employees will eventually need it), we pay increased commercial real estate taxes with growth, and deal with many regulatory and financial burdens. Additionally, my taxes pay for NYC public schools, and do not get tax credits even though I don’t use the schools and pay an additional fee for private school. Yes, that is my choice, but through that choice, I believe that I lend a service to the public schools. My portion of the tax load subsidizes another New Yorker’s child’s education in the school system. All I seek is a little appreciation for that.

President Obama seems to be consumed with the popular pitch of ‘taxing the rich,’ and New York’s governor recently agreed and is seeking to assess anyone who earns over 0K with a greater burden. The demonizing of the rich is a bad policy. These so-called rich people are the ones who create jobs, take risks and sacrifice a lot.

People who work hard are the best hope for our country in these economic times, especially when China and other rising nations are consuming the work that used to be America’s. The work ethic has shifted to people who can understand and appreciate hard work, a sensibility that is lost today on many of America’s emerging workforce.

It’s about time a Public Relations campaign for entrepreneurs and business owners commenced. Today’s political environment is putting more strain on the hardworking entrepreneur. It is taxing energetic people who forgo personal time and money every day in the race to create opportunities which often end up generating opportunities for others as well. Taxing the wealthy even more is simply not the answer to the nation’s devastating problems. Countless small businesses are stagnant and need stimulation; it’s not their responsibility to bail out individuals. The drivers of the American economy are not the poor and the jobless, but the entrepreneurs who create the opportunities for most of the American workforce.

Increased government taxes will result in more job loss. It will serve to pound motivation out of the entrepreneur, making it even harder to create jobs. This hurricane sweeping through our businesses will change the country’s landscape for the worse. It’s un-American to say the least.

P.S. When I die, my children will be taxed another 50 percent on the money that I already paid taxes on.

Corporate Cultures – Leader Initiated, Rules and Standards Controlled Environment - February 19, 2012 by

The Leader Initiated, Rules and Standards Controlled Environment represents a moderate leader led work environment that gives lower level mangers and supervisors somewhat more autonomy to direct day-to-day activities without relinquishing centralized control. This culture set realizes the benefits of centalized direction setting and improved, if not rigid, consistency. The reliance on rules and standards provides some degree of local flexibility that heightens situational responsiveness but diminishes consistency in actions and results between workgroups and locations.

The following characteristics, benefits, risks, and risk mitigators are representative of the Leader Initiated, Rules and Standards Controlled Environment.

Starbucks Moment - February 17, 2012 by

White Chocolate Mocha from StarBucks

The jerk went to school today and pretending to be the “Father of The Year” because he took the kids with him even if he had a class. Anyway, I have done the most important thing today which I should have done a long time ago. After that I walked straight to SuperCut and had a haircut. Then hanged out at Starbucks with a White Chocolate Mocha and a Very Berry Coffee Cake. I was there sitting and staring at nowhere enjoying my me time. Thinking how miserable my life right now. It may be expensive to hangout at Starbucks but at least it helps a little just sitting there and looking at those group of kids and people.
