Central Kentucky WineFest
For Immediate Release
Old Crow Inn Farm and Winery will host the Central Kentucky WineFest on the same weekend as the Boyle County Horse Show, the opening of Pioneer Playhouse Outdoor Theater, and the free band festival in June 2008. The WineFest will be held on Friday June 13 from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. With over forty (40) wineries now licensed in Kentucky, the emphasis will be on showcasing Kentucky’s medal winning wines. Twelve Kentucky Wineries have already accepted the invitation to participate. The WineFest will be a "Kentucky Proud" event featuring Kentucky Proud wines as well as Kentucky Proud cheeses, fruit and other products.
“Kentucky’s growing grape and wine industry provides jobs and income for many Kentuckians,” Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer said. “Our wines also are growing in quality and prestige. This event will bring many Kentucky Proud wines together in one place so consumers can try the best wines Kentucky has to offer.”
In conjunction with the WineFest, Dr. Tome Cottrell, University of Kentucky Enologist, will conduct a wine competition for Kentucky Proud wines in May. Dr. Cottrell will enlist experts from outside Kentucky to judge the wines. Medal winning wines will be highlighted in a sepcial section of the WineFest.
The Central Kentucky WineFest is unique in that patrons may both sample a variety of Kentucky wines and purchase the wines at the event. In addition, patrons will be able to vote for their favorite wines in eight (8) different wine categories from Red and White grape wines to non-grape and fruit wines. Last year’s WineFest “People’s Choice” awards came from a variety of the ten (10) wineries that participated in 2007.
All proceeds for the WineFest Gate receipts will benefit tow local Charities, the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society for the neglected and abused animals and the Brenda Cowan Coalition of Danville serving neglected and abused families. The Elements Enterprises Foundation, a 501(c)3 None-Profit Corporation will server as the Umbrella organization for the WineFest and will server as host for the event. The two Charities will work with the Elements and will receiver the proceeds from the gate receipts.

What Is a Hero?
Webster's describes a hero as someone who is of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his or her brave deeds and noble qualities. In this 2008 Heroes Calendar, we take time to honor those who dedicate their lives to protecting others. Everyday men and women put on a uniform to face whatever may come their way. Whether on the city streets, in the school yard or as we head into the friendly skies, the individuals honored throughout 2008 are recognized for doing an outstanding job with little fanfare or pats on the back.
To these men and women who protect us, We Salute You!
