During the formation phase of the satellite office, a contest amongst the staff was generated to find the new name for the Satellite office. In 1991, unanimously, Safe Connections was named as the first satellite office of the former YWCA. An Outreach Coordinator and Victim’s Advocate served Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln, and Mercer counties at the undisclosed Spouse Abuse Center. As the service area expanded and client provisions grew, so did the staffing needs. The undisclosed YWCA Safe Connections Spouse Abuse Center moved to a disclosed location on Third Street in Danville, KY. By the mid 90’s, an Attorney and Legal Advocate joined as new team players of the Safe Connections office.

BCC realized survivors of domestic violence desperately needed affordable housing. In 2001, BCC applied for federal funding through HUD to create a housing program. The award to serve survivors of domestic with housing opportunities came in 2002. That housing program offered housing assistance to seven families through the Safe Connections satellite office. Today, the BCC housing program now serves over 100 families in the 16 county service areas.
